Mother's Day, 2003 was the Fresh
Paint event for the Copley Society in Boston.
A selection of the Copley Members who paint from life are asked
to spend just one
day in the Boston area preparing a painting to be finished and
hung by 5pm that evening.
This Year I decided to work figuratively since the last few years
I have done either
Boston landscapes or architecture. I traveled down to the city
with Brooke
who sat for me in the early morning across the street from the
Copley Gallery.
After Completeing the portrait of her, and attracting the attention
of some of the
Harley Davidson customers from next to the Gallery, I asked a
few of the
guys to sit for me...Less than 2 hours later I needed to finish
up, for I was losing
thre sun and the Bikers were losing feeling in thier butts from
sitting on the
cold cement steps...they were amazing sports and full of character.
The painting is a loose, fun study, a bit different from
some of the more recent works from "Avanti".
Both paintings will be exhibited
in the Copley Society Gallery the week of May 11th-May 16th
for a silent auction which will commence on Friday the 16th from
6:00-8:30pm.
